So I haven't written a post in a while. I've just been very busy. On Thursday, August 7th, I finished what I thought was to be my last day of my summer internship. Turns out, I was offered a two month extension. I had applied for the Sept-May internship the school was offering even though I knew they were mainly looking for an HRA alumni. I applied because I planned on staying in the area and I need the money. Plus, it would give me time to look for a full time job. Instead of offering me the position, they gave me a two month extension to my current position with a raise.
On August 8th, I moved with two of my sisters to an apartment complex. It is really really nice. I will post pictures later. I have my own room but if/when Mack decides to come down to visit or stay then she'll be staying with me. The transition of moving wasn't too bad except we finished around one in the morning and the next two days I couldn't move at all. I am taking on the responsibility of paying for cable/internet. I don't think it'll be too bad. The first month's pay is a tad bigger than I thought but I also think there were start up and installation fees added into it. With this two month extension to my internship I should be fine. I passed my TEFL course a few days ago. I'm waiting to get my next paycheck before ordering two copies of my certificate (one electronic and one hard copy). The company I worked through is located in the UK so I'm going to have to pay a bit more than I expected for their pricing difference and of course shipping. I'm excited though. Its such a big accomplishment and a a step towards a goal I didn't know I wanted this time last year. So, today is my first day of my new work schedule (Mon - Fri 8-4). I got up at 6:15 and left the apartment at 6:40-ish. Oh, here's a side note - the entrance/exit to my apartment complex is TERRIBLE! When coming off the highway it is very easy to miss your turn and when exiting it is hard to get out because there is traffic coming from both sides and from the left side (coming from the highway) there is just an onslaught of cars. It'd be easier if there was a stop light to help people get out of the apartment complex but thee is a stoplight roughly 50ft away to the right so there would be no point. Anyway, leaving the apartment was really easy this morning. I had originally planned to leave around 6:50 but where my room is n my apartment it is facing the street and all I heard this morning were cars. I assumed I'd be stuck in traffic so I left earlier. I was wrong. There was no traffic at. At all! None. I ended up getting to work an hour early. Yep, I arrived at 7am. However, I did notice there was traffic heading back into the city and not away from it like where I was heading so I know traveling back to the apartment tonight is going to be a hassle and long. Although, now that I know it won't/shouldn't take me too long to go to work, I get to sleep in much later tomorrow. :) So now I'm sitting in my office typing this post. Let's see: moving, paying bills, job searching, and commuting to work. I guess this is what being an adult feels like.... -SJ
