So today was the second day of classes and I'm excited for what my Advanced Creative Writing class has in store. Especially because it'll give me some time to start some things I've been putting off. And for the final portfolio thing seniors that are taking classes as a 4 credit are doing, we get to look up publishers/agents and cater a piece of a novel we're working on or something to their submission guidelines as if we're going to submit to them.
But, we also have to do this thing where we find a bunch of literary magazines, rework some of our submissions to their guidelines as if we're going to submit them to their magazines. She says for this that she's not going to force us to submit our work, but I might do it when all is said and done. Who knows, I may end up published in one of them. You never know what happens if you don't take a risk. Plus, it'll bring our name out there more and even if I don't get chosen or anything, it'll still be good writing experience. I also had a Literature of the Renaissance class. I think it'll be fun, but sometimes I'm worried that I'll get my info for the class in a way that's more of a info dump, rather than actually being taught it. Then again, works of this time period were never my forte (nor my favorite things to study) so I may just be thinking prematurely about this. I had my bass lesson today and I'm already really excited about the new things I'm going to learn. It was a bit hard to get back into the swing of playing the bass (I have to make my calluses all over again) especially for some of the harder songs that I had tried before. I'm hoping with this class I'll be able to learn how to do my own original songs on the bass. Not that I've written any before, but to learn how to write my own stuff. Tomorrow's the WEEKEND! Woo-hoo! I only have one class and three hours of work and then it's the weekend...where I have a lot of homework to do. Feeling the senior buzz already. It's not that bad, most of my homework is for creative writing, so I just need to think about the kind of thing I want to write about (though I've had a couple ideas that I'd want to try to work on for future publication). I'm thinking of doing a bunch of short stories that would be around the same main character, as a different alternative to writing an actual book. That way I can do specific scenes I want to write out rather than forcing myself to get everything up and running. Keep your fingers crossed. I would rank today a 9/10 on the 'good day' scale. Minus two points because as hard as I tired, I couldn't sleep in today. Haha.
