So the title may be a bit premature, but, hey, I did just finish registering for my J-Term and Spring Term classes. (Oh yeah, writing the American Sitcom in January, I'm gonna have fun with that one). But as I was registering, of course, I got to the point where I realized (and from looking at Facebook statuses) that it really is the end of the school year, my journey at Hollins, and college in general.
Most of the conversations that I've had with friends recently is what classes they're thinking about taking as well as, what they're going to do after college. A lot of them have said that they may go right into graduate school. (For those that are wondering about me, I'm thinking of taking a year off before I go for a Masters in Creative Writing, that way I can get some more experience rather than shuttling through school for so long). But who knows what's gonna happen. All of this reminds me of what my 2010 classmates and I used to say when we were in lower school: "Man, 2010 is never gonna get here. We're never gonna graduate". And I said the same thing when I started university, that 2014 is never gonna get here and we're never gonna graduate. Now I see that I was wrong and it's coming up sooner than I expected it to. But it has given me time to reflect on how much I've changed over the past four years. I've come to terms with who I am as a individual as well as being quadruplet, I've realized that I took out a lot of my insecurities on other people while at high school and acted superior to some of the things they were in to (which for that I truly apologize for), as well as wonder what would have happened if I took more opportunities that came my way. However, I know that there are even more opportunities that I have coming towards me with my sisters' and my writing as well as whatever career paths we take in general. I may be a little corn when I say this, but I'm gonna miss being in college and seeing the friends that I made from many different places. We're probably not gonna see each other as much when we leave, but whenever I play a Mario Party game, of course I'll think of the many times that the apartments were filled with screaming, thieving, and strategic girls wanting to win and keep getting their stars stolen. You can also expect something as equally heartwarming in the spring when it's actually closer to graduation. Just so you all know. Peace, -Jess
